Human Resources Specialist

Position Overview:
*This will be a Provisional civil service appointment pending Tompkins County exam being given and the list of eligibles established (anticipate around April, 2018 or as NYS otherwise dictates).  This posting will serve to fill a full-time (40-hr./wk.), 12-month, Tompkins County Civil Service competitive position of Human Resources Specialist available due to a retirement.  The 2017-18 assignment is at the district office.   

This position involves responsibility for coordinating a variety of personnel information and employee benefit programs as assigned.  The incumbent prepares and processes a wide variety of HR/Payroll items and advises employees about items such as salary, terms and conditions of employment, benefits, leaves of absence, including health/dental insurance, Workers Compensation, retirement systems, the Employee Assistant Program, etc.  Work is performed under the general supervision of the Superintendent with wide leeway allowed for the exercise of independent judgment in planning and carrying out assigned duties.  The incumbent will perform all related duties as required.

School Bus Attendant 

Position Overview:
This posting will serve to fill various civil service non-competitive school bus attendant runs that may become available in the 2018-19 school year such as due to resignations, leaves, and route changes. Runs that may become available throughout the school year will be filled per the transportation bidding notice and process posted at the transportation facility. The assignment will be riding in a school vehicle supervising assigned students. An employee filling this position is responsible for assisting the school bus driver in the safe transportation of student(s) assigned. The work is performed under the general supervision of the assigned driver with overall supervision by the transportation supervisor. The SBA will follow specific duties/expectations outlined in the assigned student(s) IEP as well as other duties/expectations as required. If the incumbent is serving student(S) with a disabling condition, the employee must successfully complete the NYSED mandated raining and testing before the candidate can assume this position. This posting will also serve to fill any school bus attendant vacancies that may occur due to internal movement as a result of this posting.
