In the month of September, Mike Zamansky, the Coordinator of Computer Science Teacher Education at Hunter College in NYC, visited Dryden High School’s Introduction to Programming class as a guest speaker. Ms. Kiana Herr teaches the class day to day and is taking Mr. Zamansky’s program with her colleagues to earn the computer science certification.

During his visit, Mr. Zamansky shared with students about the various possibilities that will be open to them after participating in computer science programming. He encouraged the students to engage with programming in a way that fits their own needs, desires, and future goals best. After he spoke, Ms. Herr introduced the programming concept of conditionals by making connections to the childhood game "Simon Says".

At Dryden, we believe that having first hand knowledge gives students the ability to explore new perspectives and dig deeper into their passions. We thank Mr. Zamansky for his time and we are looking forward to seeing the developments in our own classroom this year.
