Dryden and Groton school districts have teamed up to bring their students even more opportunities to develop and expand their real-world skills in the area of computer science to prepare them for employment and advanced study in computer science related fields.

As the recipients of a NYS Learning Technology Grant they will be awarded $198,004 annually for the next three years. Funds will be used to support the development and enhancement of computer science academic programming, teacher capacity and certification in Computer Science Education, and work-based learning experiences for students.

In addition to district faculty, Robert Haight, Executive Director of the Cortland Chamber of Commerce, Michael Zamansky, Coordinator of Computer Science Teacher Education at Hunter College's School of Education, and Kenneth Whitener, Chair for the Computer Science program at Tompkins Cortland Community College will be part of the collaborative team that will work to create and deliver a technology-rich, and industry-aligned curriculum. Our partnership with the Chamber of Commerce will also help us offer students networking and internship opportunities with local businesses to prepare them for employment within our community.
