Saturday at Valley Bowling Center in Waverly, thirteen schools competed in the IAC bowling championships.

The Waverly boys team and UnionSprings/PortByron girls took home first place.

Individually, Eddie Pietrasz of Dryden took first place with an outstanding series of 802.  Collen Jump of Union Springs/PortByron was the top girl with a 648 series.

The Dryden Bowling team finished in an amazing 4th place in their first year with a bowling program.

In addition to sophomore Eddie Pietrasz, the Purple Lions also got major contributions from Senior Evan Becraft (finished 7th with a 621 total) and Junior Ross Sornberger (finished 18th with a 571 total that included 244 in the middle game).

"There are a lot of really good bowling programs in the IAC. We felt coming in that 7th or 8th place would be a great goal. To finish 4th and have our best series of the year by nearly 300 pins, was really beyond our wildest dreams," said Dryden Bowling Coach David Hicks.

"We are very excited with how our first year went and look forward to competing in the IAC for many years to come," said Hicks.
