Our Food Service department has so many great things going on!
We are beyond excited to share that we received a $15,000 grant from No Kid Hungry! These funds have been earmarked to purchase commercial blenders to be able to offer districtwide smoothies, homemade soups, hummus, sauces to add extra flavor to our dishes, to upgrade our current technology (new POS system) and purchase new equipment.
In addition, we have also enhanced our summer delivery program. When school is out, we strive to ensure that our families throughout the community maintain healthy eating habits. Dryden Central School District continues to be dedicated to this mission through our Summer Nutrition Program, which offers free meals to all of our Lion families with children aged 2 to 18 during the summer, delivered on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
This summer, we have added the “Purple Apron” Program. In addition to the weekly meals families receive, the program will also offer meal kits that can be prepared on weekends. These will include themes like “Breakfast for Dinner,” “BBQ” and “Taco & Nachos.” Not only will the District continue to help our community navigate the turbulence of the ongoing pandemic, but we also aim to encourage families to have fun together preparing and enjoying these healthy meals.
