Empty Bowls Event Postponed
Posted on 03/05/2020
UPDATE 3/13/20: The Empty Bowls event will be rescheduled for a later date (TBD). Please see message below for details.

Dear Parents, Guardians, Students, Staff and Community Members,

Due to COVID-19 precautions and the governor's recent restrictions on large gatherings, we feel it necessary to postpone our upcoming Empty Bowls Event on 03/19/2020. The safety of our students and community members are our top priority. We appreciate your support and understanding on this matter. Our Ceramics and Crafts students have been hard at work since September planning for this event, so we’d like to reschedule it at a later date (TBD).  If you’ve already purchased tickets you can either request a refund or they’ll be held for you. Please let us know if you have any questions. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Ms. Rechtin, Ms. Butts & Mrs. Scheuring

Dryden High School Ceramics and Crafts students will host an Empty Bowls Event on Thursday, March 19. The event will be split into two seatings: the first from 5 - 6 PM and the second from 6 - 7 PM.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Dryden Family Meal Connection. This program supports over thirty local families affected by food insecurity with meals throughout the summer.

The menu consists of a bowl of homemade soup (your choice of vegan/vegetarian, chicken or beef soup) and a roll or slice of bread (generously donated by Ithaca Bakery). The sparse menu was created to instill mindfulness of the empty bowls in the Dryden community.

Empty Bowls is an international grassroots effort to fight hunger. Potters, craftspeople and educators work with the community to create handcrafted bowls. Guests are invited to a simple meal consisting of soup and bread. In exchange for a cash donation, guests are asked to keep a bowl as a reminder of all the empty bowls in the world. The money raised is donated to an organization to help end hunger and food insecurity.

Please see the flyer below for further details. We hope to see you there!
