May is National Water Safety Month
May15, 2012 will be the first International Water Safety Day
All sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students in Dryden receive 12 weeks of swimming and water safety instruction as part of the physical education curriculum. For the grading policy for the 2 marking periods of swim class click grading policy.
The sixth grade students are learning the elementary backstroke. To learn to glide as part of the coordination of the elementary backstroke, I created Mrs. Alexander's Elementary Backstroke Hall of Fame. For information on the Hall of Fame click here. All grade levels in swim classes are learning about the care and prevention of hypothermia and the use of PFD's.

The American Red Cross Lifeguard Training course is offered to students on the high school level. Once these students successfully complete this course, the students will be able to be employed as lifeguards in a pool facility. The class will be offered 3rd period on B days to eligible students 15 years old or older.
