| Research Databases- Mobile Interfaces
Internet-enabled cellphones (also known as "smartphones")
allow users to access to online resources like library research databases
from
anywhere. With this in mind, some of the publishers of our research
databases automatically recognize when users with smartphones access
their services and automatically redirect them to web pages that are
easy to use with these devices. Other publishers are creating applications
for smart phones that provide users with direct access to their database
resources. These mobile interfaces provide users with access to the
same high-quality resources right in the palm of your hand just as
if you were sitting infront of a computer workstation.
Specific examples of research databases with mobile interfaces includes:
- Gale's AccessMyLibrary (AML)
has two moblie applications available. AML School Edition provides
students
with access to all of the Gale databases
that are available through their school library. AML Public
Edition provides access to the Gale databases that are available
at their local public library.
- EBSCOhost
Mobile is tailor-made application that delivers smaller
screens for mobile devices.
- Rosen's Teen
Health & Wellness has optimized their site for smartphones
so that users can connect anytime from anywhere to get access to
their resources.
Whether you are accessing information from a computer workstation
or from a smartphone, please be good Internet citizens and practice
Internet safety. Students are reminded about the personal digital
accessory and the acceptable
use policies
at
school. The purpose of this page is to inform students about different
ways they can access high-quality library resources, not to encourage
students to violate these and related school policies. |
