Instructional

NOTE: Non-Teacher (NYS) Certified subs. are limited to 40 days/school year per school district per NYSED Regs., and, Non-Teacher (NYS) Certified subs working toward NYS teacher certification at the rate of not less than 6 semester hours per year would need to submit verification to HR for each semester for review of the 40-day limit rule to be waived for that semester.

Substitute Teachers

Work per diem as necessary for absent staff.
2016-17 Sub. Teacher Rate: $90/day

 

Substitute Teacher Aides
Work per diem as necessary for staff absent in the areas of district-wide (K-12)  general and/or special education classrooms, MS/HS supervision, and/or library.  
Minimum Qualifications.: HS Diploma or GED, or other qualifications. as outlined on the Tompkins County civil service job description.
2016-17 Sub. Aide Rate (averaged):  $10.50/hr.

 

Substitute School Nurses (RN)
Must hold NYS Licensure from the Office of Professions as a Registered Nurse.  Work per diem as needed.
2016-17 Sub. School Nurse Rate:  $88/day

 

Substitute Bus Drivers & Substitute School Bus Attendants/Monitors
Work per diem as needed on assigned bus runs.
2016-17 Sub. Bus Driver Rate:  $15.49/hr.
2016-17 Sub. School Bus Attendant/Monitor Rate:  $10.50/hr.

 

Substitute Cleaners
Work per diem as needed (typically 2nd shift, 3-11pm).
There are no minimum qualifications for this position.
2016-17 Sub. Cleaner Rate:  $10.45/hr.

 

Substitute School Monitors
Work per diem as needed. (i.e., playground, hall, & cafeteria during lunch/recess)
There are no minimum qualifications for this position, but completion of high school and experience with children is desirable.
2016-17 Sub. School Monitor Rate:  $9.95/hr.

 

Substitute Food Service Helper & Senior Food Service Helper & Food Truck Driver
Work per diem as needed.  
Minimum Qualifications.: as outlined on the Tompkins County civil service job descriptions.
2016-17 Sub. Food Service (FSH & SFSH) Rate:  $9.95/hr.
2016-17 Sub. Food Truck Driver "School Chauffeur"Rate:  $10.50/hr.

 

Substitute Clerical (Civil Service Title: Data Processing Helper)
Work per diem as needed.  
Minimum Quals.: HS Diploma or GED, and other qualifications. as outlined on the various Tompkins County civil service job descriptions.
2016-17 Sub. Clerical Rate (averaged):  $11.00/hr.
