RE: Athletic Participation Physicals

It is almost that time of the year again where we start getting ready for the 2018-19 athletic programing and I speak for the entire coaching staff when I say that we are looking so forward to having your child as a part of it.

The way we have done business in the past in regard to athletic physicals has not worked very well. Currently students wait until the first day of a sport season to turn their physical in or get the forms for a physical and expect to participate that day. It can’t happen, and other students are sometimes held up because the school nurses are bombarded with paperwork. Therefore, in an effort to become more efficient and allow our coaches to focus on teaching, and to assure that our student athletes are prepared and ready to go on the first day of practice, the nursing staff and I have determined that the following procedure will take place:

The day after the last day of school, Friday, June 22, 2018, from 8am to 10am, physicals will be offered to student athletes that want to compete in a sport program during the 2018-19 school year.

There will be make-ups offered on Friday, August 3, 2018 from 8am to 10am. This will be the only make-up date.

Students with special circumstance (foreign exchange students and/or students with other special circumstances) deemed as such by the Director of Athletics and the nursing staff will be treated on an individual basis. Please know that summer vacation, work, camps, my car wouldn’t start, etc. Will not be accepted as special circumstances.

Physicals will not be acceptable after Friday, August 3, 2018 unless a special circumstance has been granted.

Doctor’s order for Inhaler and Epi-pen must be submitted to the school nurse along with completed physical forms.

In a nut shell: If a student does not receive a physical by our school doctor or submit a physical by his/her personal family doctor by either June 22, 2018 or by August 3, 2018, he/she will not be eligible to play sports during the Fall Season.

Winter and Spring deadline dates will also be announced prior to these seasons starting.

If a student receives a physical by our school physician on the dates above, there is no charge and the physical is good for the entire year (three sport seasons). This is highly recommended!
