Lewis Honored by NYSSWA

Dryden Senior Jacob Lewis was named to the New York State Sportswriter’s Association 3rd Team All-State for the Boys Small School grouping.  Lewis led the Purple Lions this year with 15 goals and 7 assists as the Boys had an 11-4 regular season record.  He was biggest in the big moments, netting 5 game winners and 3 game winning assists.  Coach Laszlo Engel said of Lewis, “He is very smart with the ball and moving to space off the ball. He is very soccer intelligent.” Congratulations to Jacob!

First Alumni Soccer Game a Success!

While many were out Black Friday shopping, the Dryden Boys and Girls soccer programs hosted what they hope will become an annual tradition--an alumni game. Due to the weather that socked the area earlier in the week, the game had to be moved from the stadium field on campus to indoors at TC3 (thanks to our friends up there!). Despite the change, it was a great event with 36 alumni taking field and over 30 spectators on hand. Current Senior Gabe Woods roused the crowd with the national anthem and the teams offered a moment of silence to honor their classmates who had passed on since graduation. As the teams took to the field, it was like they had never left. Coach Laszlo Engel, the event's organizer, was really impressed with the quality of play from the alumni, despite the years that had gone by.

We look forward to trying to build this tradition...alumni, mark your calendar for next year!

Trophy Kicks Rivalry Up a Notch

This Columbus Day marks the third year in a row that Dryden and Lansing will play a Boys and Girls Varsity Soccer doubleheader at TC3. The two schools' Athletic Departments have agreed to make this "challenge" game an annual tradition. To add a little "juice" to the competition, a perpetual trophy has been created to go back and forth to the winning school for each game. After considering a variety of trophy ideas, we settled on a paw, representing the fact that both schools have a cat mascot. The game has been dubbed "The Feline Feud: Battle for the Paw." Coming into this year's game the Lansing boys and Dryden girls are the teams possessing the coveted paw. Come on out to see this year's game with the girls starting at 5pm and the boys at 7pm on Columbus Day!
