 Entrance Procedure at FES
Visitors to Freeville Elementary will have an extra security step to follow before entering the building.  As you approach the main entrance, you will notice a “doorbell” mounted on the brick wall to your left.  You will need to push the button to alert staff to your presence.  Staff can observe visitors with a small video camera and also speak to visitors outside via an audio system. You will then be “buzzed” in and follow our normal procedures for signing in and picking up a visitor badge.

                 Freeville Elementary School

Welcome to the Freeville Elementary School web page. The Freeville Elementary School in located in the lovely village of Freeville, NY.

The Freeville Elementary School has about 100 students in grades K-3. We have six classrooms, two of each, Kindergarten and First, one Second and one Third grade.  This year our school will promote reading through a star reading program. Students will receive a reading bag that contains a reading log and a leveled reading book to match the child's reading ability. Students practice reading at home and complete their reading log. When a reading log is complete they receive recognition at an all school meeting where their success is cheered for and they receive a star for every completed log. Stars are displayed in the school gym where everyone can see the progress the school is making toward reading goals.

Please note the available links on the left hand side of this page. Each will take you to a different page that focuses on the topic indicated on the link button.

Freeville Elementary School has an active Parent Teacher Association (PTA) which meets regularly on the first Thursday of the month. The school also has a Site-based Team consisting of a group of teachers, an administrator, and parents who work together to improve the school. If you have suggestions for improvements or would like to volunteer to join our educational community in some way, please contact us.

Please feel welcome to visit our friendly school.

Bus Pass Guidelines
If it becomes necessary for your child to be transported to a different location after school, please send in a note with the name and address of the drop off location, date, child's full name, teacher's name, and include parent/guardian signature. Bus passes are issued for daycare purposes only. We discourage bus changes over the telephone.
Attendance Guidelines
Attendance is taken by teachers daily. Any student arriving after the beginning of the school day will be considered late and must check in with the office. Students who report more than five minutes after the start of the school day must have a written excuse for that lateness. Excuses should include the following information: student's full name; date of absence; reason for absence - sick or illness cannot be accepted - be more specific; parent signature. Incentives are offered for perfect attendance. Each year we honor classrooms and students who have perfect attendance. Please visit the perfect attnedance link for information on perfect attendance.
