February 3rd - Half-Day (11:00 AM) - Supt. Conference Day
December 28, 2011
Greetings everyone;
I sincerely hope that your holiday is going well for you and your family. I am writing to ask for your assistance. Before students left for the holiday break, I announced that students will no longer be able to wear hats during academic hours (7:48am to 2:19pm). The reason for this decision is that there were just too many disruptive incidents throughout the day involving hats. Hats were lost, stolen, thrown down the hallways and in bathrooms. They were also knocked off the ownerâs head. In most cases, this is a result of bullying and in others, fights were caused. Even when typical goofing around occurred, it sometimes turned into a serious infraction because other students become involved.
Another area of concern that was not discussed with the students is stuffed animals. Also effective January 3rd, students will not be permitted to carry a stuffed animal during academic hours. Again, too many disruptive incidents such as throwing them while in classes and in the hallways have occurred. Stuffed animals also serve as a distraction between the student that has one in possession, and his/her classmates.
Again, I need your help. Please assist me in eliminating these distractions during the school day. All students will benefit from this. Every minute wasted in dealing with hats and stuffed animals â especially in the classrooms, is a minute of education taken from all students. Review these new middle school procedures with your student so that he/she understands why these rules are now in place.
Thank you in advance for your support.
Larry Hinkle
Middle School Principal

ATTENTION: Students and Parents â Changes to Entering the MS/HS Buildings
The middle school main entrance will unlock at 7:25 a.m. for student entry.
The high school and auditorium doors, and cafeteria side entrances, will unlock at 7:25 a.m. for student entry.
All doors will relock at 7:48 a.m.
All students entering the building before 7:25 a.m. are expected to report directly to the cafeteria.
If you drop your student off at the middle school entrance after 7:15 a.m., you may not be able to leave the parking lot until after the busses have exited the bus loop.
Students arriving after 7:48 a.m. will need to use the intercom to be âbuzzed inâ at their respective school entrance.
The high school main entrance will be unlocked for both morning and afternoon returning BOCES Students.
Anyone wishing to enter a building when the doors are locked will need to use the intercom to be âbuzzed inâ.
These adjustments in our security measures are in the best interest of our students and their continued safety.
Thank you for your support and patience.
