June 2013

Dear Dryden Families:

It is hard to believe that an entire school year has almost come to pass!  The Class of 2013 is almost ready to graduate and June Regents exams are almost upon us.  There is some very important information that I want you to be aware of regarding the upcoming Regents exams.  Possession of electronic devices is strictly prohibited during the administration of Regents exams. This includes any space where exams are administered. Such devices include but are not limited to:

cell phones, Blackberry devices or other PDAs, iPads, tablets, and other eReaders, iPods and MP3 players, laptops, notebooks, or any other personal computing devices, cameras or other photographic equipment, headphones, headsets, or in-ear headphones such as ear buds, and any other device capable of viewing or playing back such content.

Admission to the test shall be denied to any student who is in possession of any of the above listed items and refuses to relinquish them to a school official.

Prior to the start of each exam, students will be read a script where they will be reminded that they are not to be in possession of the above listed items. If it is determined that a student is in possession of a prohibited device during the test administration, the student’s test must be invalidated. No score may be calculated for that student.

Please remind your son/daughter to make arrangements for the safe keeping of their electronic device(s) on the day they have an exam. There will be locations in the building that students may utilize to store their electronic devices.

Thank you so much for your support this year. It continues to be a pleasure serving the Dryden community and I wish all a safe summer.

Sincerely,

Brett P. Fingland
High School Principal

On April 22, 2013, at the recommendation of Superintendent Sandy Sherwood, the Board of Education approved the following two changes to this year's calendar:

1) The Board approved extending the Memorial Day holiday weekend by closing school on Friday, May 24th as we had an unused emergency closing day.

2)  The Board also approved making Tuesday, June 18th and Wednesday, June 19th as half-days (with lunch served) for all K-5 students.  This is in alignment with what we have done in past years.  Please note that Thursday, June 20th is already designated as half-day for K-5 (with no lunch served).
