TITLE/CATEGORY OF POSITION: Principal - Grades 6-8
POSITION OVERVIEW:
This posting will serve to fill a principal position that will become available in the 2012-13 school year due to a resignation for purpose of retirement. The 2012-13 assignment is anticipated to be Principal of the middle school (grades 6-8) being responsible for supervision of the middle school program. Population for this school is approximately 375 students and 60 staff.
QUALIFICATIONS: (minimum)
- Valid NYSED certification as a School Administrator/Building Supervisor.
- Master’s Degree in education or related field.
- Successful classroom teaching and/or counseling experience at the middle school preferred.
- Successful experience in public school administration/supervision, and as department head and/or curriculum coordinator preferred.
- Successful experience in recruitment, supervision and evaluation of staff.
- Knowledge of and ability to apply current education law regarding student discipline successfully.
- Knowledge of and ability to implement models and techniques of discipline successfully.
- Effective development and management of budget, inventory, purchasing, and scheduling.
- Ability to work well and effectively with and secure respect of faculty, staff, students, parents, community groups and agencies.
- Excellent listening, communication, and organizational skills.
- Creative and collaborative problem solver.
- Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
JOB GOAL:
By use of leadership, supervisory and administrative skills, assist to lead our schools so as to promote the academic achievement and personal development of each student.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Reports to: Superintendent of Schools
- Work Year: 12 Months
- Supervises: All assigned personnel serving in the middle school
- Reports to: Superintendent of Schools
- Salary: $82,000 - $88,000 commensurate with experience
- Evaluated by: Superintendent
